A
Roadmap to Nadcap Accreditation
What is
Nadcap?
(Formerly:
National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program)
Nadcap is the leading worldwide
cooperative program of major companies designed to manage a
cost-effective consensus approach to special processes & products
and provide continuous improvement within the aerospace & automotive
industries.
Nadcap
Mission:
The
Nadcap mission is to provide international, unbiased, independent manufacturing
process and product assessments and certification services for the
purpose of adding value, reducing total cost, and facilitating
relationships between primes and suppliers.
Expert
Resource provides Nadcap consulting
Nadcap process
and product certification is provided by Performance Review Institute (http://www.pri-network.org/Nadcap).

Each of the
Nadcap Programs above include sub-programs. For instance, Heat
Treatment has at least 10 Alloy Families, 16 Processes, and 3
Services.
Under
these programs, a supplier of an accredited product, process or service
is authorized by Nadcap to use the program’s mark (a mark of
conformity) and a certificate to indicate that the accredited product,
process, or service is in compliance with applicable standards and/or
specifications.
Why
become Nadcap Accredited?
There are two primary
reasons for seeking accreditation.
The most obvious reason is that your customer is making
accreditation mandatory for doing business.
The second reason is because the various standards will ensure
that consensus-based best practices are implemented for increasing
quality of a product process or service.
ISO 9000 only prescribes general requirements for business
management. Nadcap goes
much further to ensure the quality of a specific area of your business,
based on detailed and proven methodologies.
How do
you implement Nadcap?
Expert Resource provides a
step-by-step roadmap for accreditation.
Typically, the first step is to implement AS9100 or AC7004 (International Aerospace Quality
Management Systems). ER
specializes in the integration of these requirements with comprehensive
training, consulting and document development.
After compliance with this management system, the next step is
for ER to perform a Nadcap assessment to one or more specific product,
process or service standards. The
result is a gap analysis report, which will dictate the customization of
an Expert Resource proposal for Nadcap-specific implementation.
ER
will provide hands-on assistance for each Nadcap program, which may
include a gap assessment, process development, training, and audit
preparation.
Expert
Resource’s roadmap to Nadcap Accreditation will put you on the road to
success. By contacting ER,
you are ensuring that your Nadcap system will be done right the first
time with experts in your industry.
ER will expedite your timeline to accreditation and will minimize
your internal business disruption with our hands-on approach.
Non-Conformance
Reporting with Root Cause & Corrective Action Training
ER
provides a one-day session of on-site training for non-conformance
reporting with root cause analysis and corrective action training (NCR-RCCA).
Lack of proper NCR-RCCA training is the area of Nadcap compliance
in which most companies will fail, adding unforeseen costs to the
program and build months of frustration.
To prevent Nadcap audit failures and build on the Nadcap Merit
Program (reducing auditing costs), ER highly recommends that all Top
Management, Quality Personnel, and Nadcap-related process personnel
attend this one-day training session.
Each session will allow a maximum of 20 trainees.
Nadcap has a very stringent and particular format for NCR-RCCA.
Nadcap requires that teams of employees work together on each
NCR-RCCA found during the PRI audit.
Therefore, teams should be trained together, have a common
approach and unified expectations.
